Child Safeguarding Practice Review into Sara Sharif's death
BASW England wish to express our sympathy to all the friends and family of Sara Sharif who will have been retraumatised by the publication of the Safeguarding Practice review into her avoidable death. We welcome the considered and thoughtful recommendations made by the authors.
BASW England will continue to work with Parliament to ensure that the final version of the Children, Wellbeing and Schools Bill properly addresses these issues. See our statement here for the areas of the Bill that we think need more work: Children's Wellbeing and Schools Bill - Updates | BASW.
It is of critical importance that the government now delivers in full the £2.6bn investment in children’s social care identified in the review of Children’s Social Care as being needed to fix the system that failed Sara. BASW England is committed to working with the Minister for Children & Families to meet this shared objective.
