Access advice from BASW Advice and Representation, a team of qualified social workers, for professional and regulatory help.  Our team of qualified social workers understand the issues you face and are able to advise and represent you at regulatory councils, advising over 1,500 members every year. 

BASW also works with the Social Workers Union (SWU) to guarantee members the legal entitlement of representation in employers’ hearings. 

Opt into SWU for just £2.50 a month (£30 a year) – or just 83p a month (£10 a year) for unwaged and student member.

As a BASW member you can access free advice and telephone support from the BASW Advice and Representation team, a team of qualified social workers who provide specialist professional and regulatory help. 

BASW also works with the Social Workers Union (SWU) to guarantee members the legal entitlement of representation in employers’ hearings. SWU is a trade union with 15k members, dedicated to social work professionals and run by social workers. 

Opting in to SWU means you get all the benefits of the trade union alongside BASW, your professional association – all under one roof. To make it easy, you pay one monthly or annual fee and you are signposted to where you need to go across a network working to support you at any time you need it.

Membership renewals

Your BASW membership will be due for renewal after each year of membership.  

If you pay by monthly direct debit and your circumstances are unchanged you do not need to do anything, your BASW membership will renew automatically.
