BASW England have refreshed the 2018 survey which resulted in campaigning to reverse the trend which saw children and families social workers spending just 20% of their time in direct contact with families. The 2021 survey will now also look at social workers working with adults and inform future activity in the campaign to uphold relationship-based social work.
The panel discussed lessons learned during Covid-19 for improving child safeguarding and explored the future of virtual social work - a fantastic opportunity to ensure the social work voice and experience is shared with policymakers.
300 contributors to the review are from a registered workforce of over 100,000 social workers – more must be done to grasp and fully understand the value and the importance that social workers bring in supporting children, families and young people

The guide was developed in collaboration with valued stakeholders including Women’s Aid, Galop, Southall Black Sisters, Sign Health, Karma Nirvana, Respect, AVA, Ann Craft Trust, Dr Michaela Rogers at the University of Sheffield, as well as people with lived experience and BASW members.
