BASW opened up a survey for social workers to provide feedback on their experiences of working during the coronavirus pandemic. To date more than 1,200 social workers have provided feedback on their experiences and concerns, as well as best practice. This provides an overview of the findings and the actions BASW is taking.
The government has announced social workers are included in definition of essential frontline key workers in the context of this pandemic as set out in the Guidance for schools, childcare providers, colleges and local authorities in England on maintaining educational provision.
BASW is working with partners for ‘key worker’ and other vital recognition for social workers across the UK. Social workers need clearer guidance and professional support and resources from governments, regulators and employers to be able to support children, families and the most vulnerable people in society during the coronavirus pandemic
Wales is in need of a drastically improved social care service. Our nation is facing the serious issue of being unable to meet everybody’s need for adequate social care.
