Introduction to Health and Safety What does safe and healthy work mean for social workers? We'll explore the key risks facing social workers including violence and aggression, work-related stress, environmental hazards, and more.

Health and Safety Basics for Safety Reps Learn the fundamentals of health and safety law, risk assessment, your rights as safety representatives, and how to take action to protect your workplace.

Janet Newsham

Chair of Hazards Campaign and Coordinator of Greater Manchester Hazards Centre.

Janet is a union activist with over 40 years of experience, delivering TUC Occupational Health and Safety and employment law courses.

During her time at UCU, Janet led a Union Learn women's project and a health and safety project supporting young people in the workplace.

In her current role, she advises workers and campaigns on occupational health, safety and welfare issues.

Bringing decades of frontline experience to national policy discussions on workplace safety and health.
